Introducing the “Cast Iron Throwdown.” It’sThe Cast Iron Cook-Off is more than a cooking competition…it’s West Virginia’s annual festival of food.
Teams and Chef’s from all over our region celebrate our state’s culinary heritage by creatively preparing and presenting a multi-course feast in a spirited competition. The 2012 Cast Iron Cook-Off features a new event that takes the creativity and spirited competition to a new level. time for our Cast Iron Cook-Off Grand Champions to go head to head in a “throwdown.”

…come together, they provide an opportunity for three (3) lucky HOSTS to be on the receiving end of the resulting feasts. Each team, consisting of the Chef, sous chef and four non-pro foodies, will prepare and serve a threecourse, wine-matched menu to eight people seated at that Chef’s Table.
How can you be a Chef’s Table Host?
Becoming a Chef’s Table Host will also involve some spirited competition, as corporations, professional firms and even individuals from all over West Virginia bid on the rights to be one of the three HOSTS. Here’s all you have to do:
1. Select friends, family members, clients or business associates to fill a table of eight for a unique, one-of-a-kind culinary experience at lunch on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at The Greenbrier. (You will be forever redefining “VIP treatment” for these lucky people, so choose them carefully!)
2. Prepare to enjoy not only the three-course, wine-matched luncheon, but the ambiance that comes with table-side service at The Greenbrier. (If you also want to enjoy the bragging rights associated with being one of only three HOSTS, we understand!)
3. Submit your bid, including your team of choice. Or, you can place a general bid to be applied to any of the three teams, which increases your chance winning.

4. Visit www.wvfarm2u.org frequently to see how the bids are shaping up. The winning-bids-todate will be posted weekly until January 4, 2012, when the winning HOSTS will be announced.

The traditional Cast Iron Cook-Off will take place on that same day in the Grand Hall, where the next, new Grand Champion will be crowned. • One of the three former Grand Champions will be selected by three nationally credentialed judges as the “Throwdown Champ.”
• The 24 people seated at the three tables of eight.
